Our Bubble Year group

 This is what Level 3.2 at school looks like, everyone  wearing masks,  everyone Social distancing , few students at school, empty class room due to Bubbles. It is  pretty exciting to be back at school. Our routine is different due to Covid-19, even though Auckland has many cases, we are all being safe. This is very different to what my life looked like at home. I feel weird beacause at home there is  no rush in the morning, we get up, get dressed, and go to a queit place in the house and join our 10:00 session then do work until 2:30 for our last call for the day. School life is now about connecting with others  and our class mates good to be out of the house.

New Zealand Film Festival starts in Wellington

 

This year is the festival’s 50th anniversary, and the films will start at Wellingtons. theater 

The festival is directed by Marten Rabarts and he is delight that the event is able to go ahead under Covid restrictions.

The festival showcases films from all over the world. However, it also gives Aotearoa’s best and brightest creatives a chance to shine, with documentaries, fiction and short films all coming from New Zealand filmmakers.

New Zealand couple grow worlds biggest potato

 A New Zealand couple believe that they have grown the world’s biggest potato.

Colin and Donna Craig-Brown were cleaning out their vegetable garden when they found a massive potato that weighed just under 8kg, and it might be a new world record.

Colin and Donna Craig-Brown weren’t sure of what they had discovered under a few inches of dirt in their garden. Only after they stabbed it with a fork did they discover the item was a potato.

The couple said the potato, which must have been growing in their garden for a couple years before being discovered, weighed 7.89kg. They have named the potato, “Doug,” and are applying to the Guinness World Records.

New Zealand Black Caps

 

The Black Caps have pulled out of their tour of Pakistan.

The tour has been canceled after NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was told them the team could have been attacked.

The tour was due to get underway with the first of three one-dayers in Rawalpindi last Friday.

However, instead of playing this game, the team stayed in their hotel.

New Zealand Cricket will not share details of the security threat and said arrangements were being made for the team’s departure.

Pascoe swims to 10th Paralympic gold

 New Zealand swimmer Sophie Pascoe has claimed her 10th Paralympic gold medal with victory in the women’s S9 100 metres freestyle final in Tokyo.

The Kiwi swimming sensation looked strong from the start of the race. She led by a second at the halfway point and then held off a late charge from Spain’s Sarai Gascon to win by 0.4 of a second.

Mariana Ribeiro of Brazil took bronze.

It was Pascoe’s third Paralympic medal in the 100m freestyle. She won gold at the 2012 London Games and silver five years ago in Rio.

Pascoe is New Zealand’s most successful Paralympian. Her latest medal is her 18th Paralympic medal in total – and third of these Games.

But it is not over for Pascoe and she sti;; has more opportunity to add to her tally. She is contesting the SM9 200m individual medley on Wednesday, before completing her fourth Paralympics with the 100m butterfly on Thursday.
