Tsunami Warning

 3 weeks ago new Zealand issued a level two tsunami threat for coastal areas of the eastern part of NZ
The warning comes after a earthquake hit off the coast of East Cape.
The earthquake hit in the  north-east of Te Araroa at around Noon
The Ministry of Emergency Management issued a tsunami warning for East Coast of the North Island including Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty and Upper South Island.
The first tsunami activity had arrived, with a tsunami being generated, and would continue for several hours.
People in those locations should:
1. Stay out of the water (sea, rivers and estuaries, including boating activities)
2. Stay off beaches and shore areas
3. Do not go sightseeing
4. Share this information with family, neighbours and friends
5. Listen to the radio and/or TV for updates
6. Follow instructions of local civil defence authorities
The warning said waves measuring  high were measured at the East Cape and Great Barrier tide gauges.
Waves were expected to be observed for a couple of hours
