Sophie Pascoe.

Sophie Pascoe has won New Zealand’s first medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

The swimming sensation won a silver medal in the 100 metre breaststroke SB8 classification.

Ireland’s Ellen Keane won the gold medal. In a thrilling race she managed to out-touch Pascoe by just .39 seconds. Adelina Razetdinova, from the Russian Paralympic Committee, finished 3rd with the bronze medal.

After the race Pascoe said she’s thrilled to have won what she describes as an unexpected silver medal. Pascoe only entered this race to warm up a little before her favoured events that are coming up in three days time.

She will compete in the 100m backstroke on Monday, 100m freestyle on Tuesday, 200m individual medley on Wednesday and finally the 100m butterfly on Thursday.

Pascoe came into the competition ranked third in the world.

Pascoe is New Zealand’s most decorated Paralympian and her silver medal was her 16th Paralympic medal – her seventh silver.

Auckland Level 4.

New Zealand has moved back into lockdown following a new community case of Covid-19 in Auckland.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the alert-level 4 lockdowns at a special press conference.

On Wednesday morning, the case was confirmed to be the delta variant. Four more people have tested positive for the virus overnight. They are all linked as close contacts of the initial community case.

The lockdown will start at 11.59pm on Tuesday 17th and last for seven days in Auckland and Coromandel. It will last for 3 days for the rest of New Zealand.

Contact tracing has started in Auckland in an effort to isolate and contain any spread. Aucklanders are being encouraged to social distance and exercise caution.

One person in Auckland has been diagnosed with Covid-19. However, they have had no immediate contact with a MIQ facility. The Auckland Regional Public Health unit is now undertaking interviews with the case so that it can begin tracing contacts.

 Science Investigation

Task 1:

What causes Blood pressure?

  1. If you run a lot you get  Blood pressure

  2. MMHG

  3. 60-80 MMHG

  4. 120-80 MMHG= High Blood pressure.

Task 2.

Carefully read and understand this recording and planning guide so you are systematic in scientific thinking, experimenting, recording and interpreting.

Follow logically through each section so you are thorough in your science investigation steps.

Complete each section with details needed so you have carefully logged your project...and so an outsider can know and understand too.

1

My science investigation TOPIC:

2

My investigation question

Which physical Heart Rate Result in High and low  Blood pressure.

3

Background research and knowledge I will explore as a backdrop to my investigation

What is Pulse rate/ Heart Beat?

Pulse rate is your measure of your Blood pressure.

4

Aim of my investigation.

To find out your questions.

5

My investigation steps

Materials / resources / people: Ocean,Aleki and Texas

Tennis ball, stop watch, smart watch.

STEP 1

We get a Watch and stop watch.

STEP 2

We Did different Physical Activity

STEP 3

Got one Person to do the stop watch .

STEP 4

We record our Heat rate.

STEP X

Wrote it all down on a document.

Can your tongue in the blnd test still know the test?

Does everyone have the same taste buds?

Is there any role for your eyes and tasting?
